Photo tips for a clean duo video
What each performer photo has to show, what gets rejected, and how to get both faces looking right in the result.
The rules we check on upload
Each slot takes exactly one photo, and each photo has to pass the same checks before it is stored:
- One person per photo. A clear, front-facing shot of a single person. Group photos, mirror selfies with two people, and crowded scenes are rejected.
- At least 240px on the shortest side. Smaller photos are too soft to render a believable face.
- 10 MB or smaller, in JPG, PNG or WebP.
- A person the detector can find. Every upload is scanned before it is stored; if no person is found, the slot is rejected and nothing is charged.
What makes a photo work well
Face the camera. Both performers should look roughly toward the lens, eyes open, head upright. A face turned more than about 45 degrees gives the model much less to work with.
Keep the face unblocked. Sunglasses, masks, helmets, heavy shadow and hands in front of the face all hide the features the render needs.
Stay away from heavy filters. Beauty filters, smoothing and strong colour grading flatten the face and the result usually looks less like the person, not more.
Use even light. Daylight or a soft indoor light is ideal. Hard side light and harsh flash create shadows that change how the face reads.
Send the original file. Screenshots of a photo, a photo of a photo, or a chat-app thumbnail all lose detail.
Frame head and shoulders. Leave a little space above the head. You do not need to crop tightly — the video uses its own framing.
What tends to go wrong
| What you see | Why |
|---|---|
| "We could not find a person in that photo" | The face is too small, turned away, or hidden — or the photo shows an object or a pet |
| "Photos must be at least 240px on the shortest side" | The image was saved or shared at a smaller size |
| "Photos must be 10 MB or smaller" | Very high-resolution files; export a normal JPG instead |
| A face that drifts during the clip | The photo was soft, or the head was turned in the source image |
Consent comes first
Upload only photos you have the right to use, and only of people who agreed to appear in an AI-generated video. You confirm that before every generation, and non-consensual deepfakes are prohibited. Photos are deleted within 24 hours of upload; see the privacy policy for the details.
